Yarn and Spirituality

Hello crafty friend :)

As you can tell by the title I'm rambling about yarn again.... This might seem like the most random combination of topics however I've recently come to appreciate the intertwining nature of the two since creating my Crystal inspired yarn collection. So grab a cup of tea, cosy up, and let's chat about how I combined my love for yarn with my spiritual journey, creating crystal-inspired yarns that can be used for a variety of projects.

My Spiritual Path

My journey into spirituality began when I was around 18. I was studying for my A levels and feeling quite lost about what I was going to do in the future... That’s when I stumbled upon crystals. I had been given a piece of rough rose quartz from my mum and always had it as an ornament in my bedroom. But once I started learning about their properties I started to collect them. I remember I bought a 'Focus' bundle from The Psychic Tree and started using the crystals to meditate before College, I even brought them into exams with me (My Selenite actually split in half during my final Chemistry exam lol). Ever since I've always held them close and although many are skeptical about their properties, I think it's always good to have something physical to direct your energy onto or even just to use as a 'good luck' charm... It's the feelings they evoke which matter in my opinion!

My love for yarn <33

I came back to knitting and learnt to crochet during one of the many lockdowns in 2020/21. The quiet time made me realise I needed a hobby and after coming back from a trip to Paris during fashion week (before the pandemic) I knew I wanted it to be creative... I wanted to create clothes which were unique and so I started making and selling handmade clothes on depop. Then slowly, my business moved to the yarn side of things as I started to experiment hand dying my own fibres.

Yarn has always been more than just a medium for me. It's a form of expression, a way to create something tangible from an idea or feeling. I began to see links between the process of crocheting or knitting and the mindful practices I was incorporating into my spiritual routine.

Crystal-Inspired Yarns

Each skein is hand-dyed with intention, inspired by the colours and energies of different crystals. Eg my amethyst yarn has shades of purples and lavenders, aiming to evoke the calming and spiritual properties of the stone. Rose quartz-inspired yarns feature soft pink hues, perfect for projects meant to bring love and compassion. With each skein I add a matching crystal and a hand written affirmation card which connects to the stone.

Bringing It All Together

Whether you believe in the properties of crystals or simply appreciate their beauty, our new crystal yarns are joy to work with nonetheless!

Thank you for reading! I hope this inspires you to combine your own passions with your spiritual practices, whatever they may be. Remember, every stitch can be a step towards mindfulness and every project can have a different intention...
